Client Groups

For customers with multiple clients with the same conversion types, custom columns, and dimensions, Client Groups allow users to create and manage these settings in one client to onboard faster and manage settings more efficiently.

In the example below, the customer PowPow Sports has different clients for each region it advertises in. Reporting and optimization is the same across these regions, so the conversion types, custom columns, and dimensions are the same.

  • NAM
  • EUR
  • APAC

PowPow Sports can set up conversion types, custom columns and dimensions in any one client, say NAM. Once Client Groups is enabled, any conversion type, custom column or dimension created in NAM will automatically appear in EUR and APAC for reporting and optimization. Additionally, if users need to change a setting, it only needs to be updated in NAM and the change will apply to EUR and APAC automatically.

To opt into this feature, please speak with your Marin customer representative.

To see your Client Groups, go to Settings > Clients & Users. Source clients will have a (number) appended to the name. The (number) is the count of clients using the same settings. To make changes to Client Groups, contact your Marin customer representative.

Notes

  • A customer can have multiple Client Groups. A client can belong to one Client Group only.
  • Standalone conversion types, custom columns and dimensions can be created in children clients. These clients will have a mix of settings: some from the source client, and others unique to its own client.
  • When running reports across clients, note that some conversion types, custom columns or dimensions may not have data if the client is not opted into Client Groups.
  • On the Clients grid, conversion types are unified by the Column Header name. Dimensions and custom columns are unified by Name. If a conversion type Column Header exists with the same name but different attribution dates, you will see duplicate rows in the Clients grid.
