memnuAfter making changes to the platform using bulk upload, you may notice that you have failed rows in the Activity Log file with the following error message:
Error: URL builder is not set up for redirects. Please use Destination URL instead of Click Through URL.
What Causes The Issue?
There are two potential causes to this issue:
Possible Cause #1
This problem occurs when you have URL Builder enabled but are not using redirected URLs, and you include the Click Through URL column header in your bulk sheet. This header is reserved for clients using redirects. If you include this column when not using redirects, you’ll encounter the error message above.
Possible Cause #2
This problem can also occur when you have URL Builder enabled and you're using redirected URLs. Typically, including the URL in the Click Through URL column should result in successful processing, but if you see this error, it can mean that you have spaces in the redirect URL specified in URL Builder.
Spaces are not allowed in a redirected URL because they can prevent the redirect from being established altogether. This can cause the system to not recognize that you are using redirects and thus throws this error message when you attempt to load URLs via the Click Through URL column.
How To Fix The Issue
Simply go to your bulk sheet and change the Click Through URL column header to read Destination URL. Next re-upload your bulk sheet (or just the affected rows, being sure to remove the Result column), and the problem should be resolved.
If you are seeing this error for tagging creatives, also make sure that the Creatives option is checked by following these steps:
- Click on Settings in the upper-right.
- Select the Revenue & Tracking.
- Click URL Templates from the top menu bar.
- Check through the Template Preview to make sure there are no extra spaces.
- Once you have removed all of the extra spaces, click Save to establish the general redirect setting. The issue should now be fixed, and loading URLs via the Click Through URL column should process successfully.
