Naming Limits For Campaigns, Ad Sets, And Ads

Introduction

When working with the Marin Social platform to create campaigns, ad sets, or ads, there are a number of publisher limits in place which you may not be aware of. These limits can cause problems if you unknowingly try to enter a name that is too long.

Below we'll provide the character limits for each of these objects, which should help you avoid any hiccups when naming your objects in the future.

Name Limits

The following naming limits apply to each object in the campaign hierarchy (campaigns, ad sets, and ads). These limits apply to both Facebook and Twitter.

  • Campaign: 400 characters
  • Ad Set: 100 characters
  • Ad: 400 characters

Important Notes

When working with the Marin Social naming limits mentioned above, please bear in mind the following:

  • Exceeding name limits: When using naming conventions, there are some cases where the resulting name will exceed the name limit of the campaign, ad set, or ad. In this case, the platform will truncate these names to fit the limit of each object in the campaign hierarchy. The main reason for this is to comply with the name limits enforced by the publishers.
  • Viewing names in the grid: The names of your campaigns, ad sets, and ads will be fully shown in their entirety in the grids. No matter how long the names are, there will be no abbreviations used when showing the names in the grids.
